Q&A

How much does it cost to use the services provided by The Sharing Place?
The Sharing Place does not charge for the services we provide. However, to help offset expenses, participating families are asked to make a confidential, monthly pledge based on what they can afford to contribute. Because we provide complete confidentiality and do not provide diagnoses, we do not accept insurance or qualify for flexible spending reimbursement.

How long is the wait to join a grief support group?
If there is not space available in an age-appropriate group, you will be placed on a waiting list. The length of time on a waiting list varies, depending on your child’s age and the current participants’ involvement in the program. During your consultation, the Program Director can estimate the wait time, if any.

How long is your program?
Every child grieves differently and their needs vary, therefore The Sharing Place does not set a time limit on services. Our open-ended stay policy allows children to attend group sessions until they have an improved state of emotional, mental and even physical well-being and are sufficiently able to deal with their personal situations. Most participants attend group sessions between 6 months and 3 years.

When do grief groups meet?
Grief support groups meet at The Sharing Place on various days and times during the week. The youngest children meet in the mornings, while the school-aged and teen groups meet in the evenings.

How do I get on the waiting list to join a group?
If you and the Program Director determine The Sharing Place is a good fit for you, you will be either assigned to a group or placed on a waiting list if an opening is not available.

Where is The Sharing Place located?
The Sharing Place is located at 1695 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, UT.
